DigiTelling is a project developed by the Goethe-Institut Kroatien and the Institut français de Croatie, within the framework of the Franco-German Cultural Fund and in cooperation with the Edu4Games initiative. The Franco-German Cultural Fund was set up in 2003 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty; it encourages and supports cultural cooperation initiatives that are managed jointly by both the French and the German diplomatic networks in a third-party country.
By the end of 2020, program participants will be mentored by selected experienced professionals from the German (Cologne Game Lab, Cologne) and French video game industries (ENJMIN, Angoulême and Spielfabrique, Strasbourg) and/or academia. In addition, German and French experts will, through their experience, contribute to the implementation of the Edu4Games initiative by six constituents of the University of Zagreb to develop the first public video game design graduate study program in Croatia.
The goals of the project are to design strong interactive stories that encourage player empathy, to enable mentoring of all the artistic disciplines that make up a video game (music, visual art, animation) and to assist with marketing, presentation and distribution of video games.
Upon completion of the program, there is an opportunity to present and promote the video games, in both German and French language versions, through a network of German and French cultural institutes abroad or at specialized gatherings in the countries mentioned.
